The introduction of the higher fares in Scotland has come into practice amid falling performance levels. Peak-time season tickets and anytime day tickets in Scotland are now 3.2% more expensive, while the capped increase of off-peak fares is 2.2%. ScotRail said the rise was below the UK average of 3.1% and said it was investing “millions to build the best railway Scotland has ever had”.
