If it’s a dog’s life then I want to come back as one. What a time these two are having on Arran over the holidays. Old newspaper pals David Kelso, Janis Heaney and her husband, Steven, have been enjoying the Christmas and New Year break on the island, where David is a permanent resident now. He owns a busy guest house, Darven Cottage, at Sannox, with his partner Carol Thompson. David, who has been recovering from a serious illness in recent months, is a well known sports journalist, specialising in rugby, and was a freelance court reporter for national newspapers and television at Dumbarton Sheriff Court. He began life in newspapers at the Clydebank Post and went on to become Night Editor of the Daily Record. He is now an excellent photographer, specialising in the Arran environment, birds and animals and shipping pictures. His reputation as a chef at Darven Cottage goes before him. These beautiful dogs, Ruby and Ted, look forward to special treats from his kitchen from time to time. By Bill Heaney with pictures by David Kelso
