The basement of Clydebank Library could be turned into a museum space celebrating the town’s links with shipbuilding and Singer, and remembering those who lost their lives during the Blitz of March 1941.
Members agreed to invest £15k to enlist a specialist exhibition design company to work with the Council and wider stakeholders to develop a concept design for the museum, with the detailed proposals brought back before the committee.
Councillor Karen Conaghan, Vice Convener of Cultural Services, said: “I am keen to see the project take a step forward as this would make a fantastic addition to the facilities already on offer at Clydebank Library.
“The museum could display many artefacts from the town’s rich history and tell the historic story of the town’s past which I’m sure will be enjoyed by generations to come.”
A further report together with detailed plans for the museum will be brought to a future Culture Committee.
