The Scottish Liberal Democrats have unveiled their candidate to fight the West Dunbartonshire seat in the General Election on December 12.
Jenni Lang is taking on the sitting incumbent, Martin Docherty Hughes of the SNP; Jean Anne Mitchell, of the Labour Party; Conservative Party nomination Alix Mathieson, Peter Connolly of the Green Party, and Independent, anti-corruption candidate Andrew Muir.
Jenni Lang has worked in communications for over 20 years, with extensive experience in PR, community relations and public affairs.
In the past she has worked for PwC, British Gas, People’s Postcode Lottery and is now Head of Communications for People’s Energy, an ethical Scottish based small energy company.
She is also Vice-chair of Career Ready Scotland, a charity which supports S5 and S6 from less affluent backgrounds to gain experience of the world of work.
Jenni, pictured left, is married with two daughters.
The party’s key proposal in the manifesto is to stop Brexit.
The top five proposals are:
- Stop Brexit and invest the £50 billion Remain bonus in public services and tackling inequality
- Stop another independence referendum in Scotland, and stop the division, chaos, new borders and economic cost that independence would cause.
- Tackle the climate emergency by generating 80% of UK electricity from renewables by 2030 and insulating all low-income homes by 2025
- Provide money for free childcare from 9 months and investment in Scottish schools and nurseries.
- Transform our mental health services by treating mental health with the same urgency as physical health
