BALLOCH ROADWORKS ‘UNMITIGATED DISASTER’

WHO EVER THOUGHT THIS WAS A GOOD IDEA?

With the continued closure of the A811 Lomond Bridge, compounded by increased amount of visitors to Balloch, due to people not holidaying abroad due to Covid 19. Is there anyone out there who still thinks the road calming measures in Balloch were still a good idea? Accessing Balloch road is becoming increasingly difficult from estates and houses that line the road. Visibility for cars moving onto Balloch Road is difficult when cars are parked along the length of the road. Motorists are using the kerbside parking on the road as an extra lane, using this bit of road to overtake on the inside when cars are turning right. Pinch points along Balloch Road are becoming more hazardous due to poor or illegal parking. This increases risk to pedestrians, cyclists and motorists alike. Motorists coming off the roundabout to access Balloch Road are using it like a ‘rat run’ not sticking to the 30 mph speed limit that applies! Cast your minds back to how long this project took to complete and the inherent cost! We were promised a safer Balloch town centre and an easier access for visitors. Anyone else agree with me, that this so called ‘improvement’ has been an unmitigated disaster.
