Covid in Scotland: Blaming each other will not solve this, says Leonard

A further 993 people have tested positive for Covid-19, 17.1% of those newly tested yesterday, and 6.4% of the total number tested.- The number of hospital admissions rose by 40 and now stands at 754.
- One further person who tested positive in the last 28 days has died, taking the total by that measure to 2,610 in Scotland.
- .Nicola Sturgeon, pictured above, says she has “no interest in getting into a spat” with the UK government about the tests that were re-routed from the Lighthouse lab in Glasgow over the weekend.
- The first minister says both governments are “trying to work together to speed up turnaround times” for test results.
- Scottish Labour leader Richard Leonard, pictured above left, says “any squabbling about whose fault it is and whose fault it isn’t is just unhelpful”, calling for testing to be given a greater priority.
- The Scottish government will publish its new “strategic approach to tackling the virus” framework by the end of the week.
- More guidance will also be issued about what levels of restrictions should apply to different parts of the country once current temporary restrictions on hospitality come to an end on 26 October
