VACCINE: Advice from health board regarding vaccine appointments during adverse weather

By Rory Murphy

In light of ongoing adverse weather impacting areas across NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) the Health Board has issued the following statement from its Director for Public Health to provide reassurance and advice to patients who have appointments for the remainder of today and over the next few days.

Dr Linda De Caestecker, said:  “In light of the weather warnings in place affecting areas in Greater Glasgow and Clyde, we’d like to provide reassurance that our local teams are working as hard as possible to ensure minimal disruption to the vaccination rollout.

“Our vaccination centres remain open and patients should try to attend appointments as normal. If there are any changes, someone from the vaccination team will be in touch with affected patients.

“While you should try to make your appointment if possible, you should not put yourself at any additional risk due to the weather. You can rearrange your booking online by visiting the NHS Inform website, or by calling the COVID-19 vaccine helpline on 0800 030 8013.

“Those unable to attend their appointment at their GP for vaccination should contact the practice directly to rearrange.”
