Side by side at the Remontowa shipyard in Poland, Stena Line’s identical ferries Superfast VII and Superfast VIII are almost ready to make their debut on the company’s Irish Sea route from its new Loch Ryan Port in Scotland to Belfast. Superfast VII left Poland this afternoon (Wednesday Nov 9) and is now making its way to Scotland where it will undergo a series of sea trials before going into service on Monday November 21. Superfast VIII is due to join her sister on the route soon after. The two vessels will be the biggest ships ever to sail between Scotland and Northern Ireland carrying up to 1 200 passengers, 660 cars or 110 freight units and will make the crossing in 2hours 15 minutes. The new ships will offer unprecedented levels of comfort on the Irish Sea with state-of-the-art facilities and even an onboard jacuzzi and sauna.
