Her Majesty the Queen and Cllr Jim Bollan who wants more people to share the holiday.
By Bill Heaney
Some council workers who might have missed out on a holiday to mark the Queen’s platinum jubilee may now get the day off — thanks to Community Party councillor Jim Bollan.
He will tell West Dunbartonshire Council today that all employees should enjoy the benefits of the additional holiday allocated regarding the Platinum Jubilee event this year.
The method currently being used to decide who would and who wouldn’t get the day off “disadvantages some employees who are not programmed to work on June 3.”
Employees who have condensed their hours to assist during the pandemic, part-time workers and shift workers, predominately home care workers who have gone the extra mile during the last two years, are missing out.
And that staff working from home will also be impacted.
Cllr Bollan said there should be no loss of pay and that the costs associated with this motion, which would be met un-earmarked reserves would be revealed at Wednesday’s council meeting.
