DUMBARTON have claimed an important point from a goalless draw played at home in glorious sunshine to promotion chasers Montrose.
The first half was almost entirely devoid of serious action in front of either goal, although Dumbarton’s general display was an improvement on the recent poor run.
In the second half, Kalvin Orsi sent in a promising cross from the right, but found no takers.
Then in a goalmouth scramble, Stuart Carswell’s shot was rolling towards goal but hacked clear.
Later in the second half a brilliant chance fell the way of Paul Paton, but with the goal at his mercy, the midfielder could not connect properly and lost the chance.
With time running out Montrose were awarded a penalty after a challenge on Blair Lyons, only for Kieran Wright to brilliantly save Michael Gardyne’s spot kick.
In injury time, visiting substitute Elijah Simpson was sent off for a poor challenge on Gregor Buchanan.
That was enough to gain a point for Dumbarton, who travel to Alloa next week.

DFC 150 MERCHANDISE
Saturday 26th March 2022
WE are now in a position to announce the stock that will be available to help celebrate the club’s 150th anniversary next season.
As well as all items being available via the club shop in person and by mail order from the club, we are also working on a new online facility where a number of the items can be purchased direct from the manufacture.
The stock will include:
Replica strips, both home and away, Polo Shirts, Scarfs, Bobble Hats, Coasters, Pens, Badges, Pennants, Water Bottles, Travel Mugs, Mouse Mats, Revised Club History, Club Facts and Figures Booklet, Club Players Booklet. Orders have been placed for this stock and we’re aiming to launch everything the start of June.
In addition, we’re also looking to have a commemorative whisky available but that’s still being worked on!
For the strips, for this milestone season for the club, we’ve gone back into the history books for the designs.
The main strip is a replica of the one worn by the famous side who won the Second Division Championship
The change strip is the one used when the club was founded in 1872 and was still in use when we moved to Boghead in 1879 and when we won the Scottish Cup in 1883.
As you will see from the illustrations, the bottom of the back of the white strip has an image of the Stadium here at the Rock and the blue change strip an image of Boghead. The DFC150 crest on the front of the strips is embroidered.
We’ll keep you up to date with availability via the programme and club’s social media and website.
