ACCIDENT AND EMERGENCY: Figures paint a grim picture of the continual crisis

Jackie Baillie has warned of a continued crisis as another week of shocking figures at A&E have shown the second-worst wait times overall.

Despite the best efforts of hard working staff, in the week ending 20 November 2022 only 63 percent of patients were seen within the four-hour standard at hospitals across the NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde area.

Dumbarton constituency MSP Jackie Baillie, right,  said: “These figures paint a grim picture of the continual crisis that is facing patients and staff in A&Es across our country including people from the Dumbarton constituency.

“Clearly, things aren’t improving despite repeated promises from the SNP that they will get a handle on this chaos.

“Staff are doing all they can but they and their patients are being failed by this Health Secretary. There is intense pressure facing our hospitals, and things are only getting worse.

“We must urgently improve these figures before Humza Yousaf’s disastrous stewardship puts any more lives on the line.”
