Run Report
Event Number 132 – 27th January 2024
A combination of 15 first-time-ever park runners and 21 first-time visitors to Levengrove helped swell today’s field. We were delighted to welcome a group of our latest Levengrove Couch to 5K runners. Keep it up!
A terrific turnout of 141 walked, jogged or ran the 5K course. A special thank you to Glasgow Frontrunners, who visited on one of their monthly Club outings, with well over 20 runners. Other visitors hailed from Castle Douglas, Elderslie and Linwood.
Run Director Anna was in charge and her pre-run brief included a special mention for fellow-RD and core team member Sharon Goldie, embarking on her 50th parkrun. This alongside her 125 Volunteer stints in a variety of roles. Congratulations Sharon and thank you.
Mary Senior of Garscube Harriers was first woman home in a time of 20 mins 35 secs. She was followed by Channing Lynch, one of those first-time visitors, in 22:09.
Next came Veronica Bell, with a double celebration. Running her 25th parkrun, she was one of 18 today who recorded new Personal Best times with 23:22. Well done on both counts Veronica.
Rowan Mair from Helensburgh AAC was leading Junior in 29:52. Congratulations Rowan.
First-time visitor Euan McCracken from Kilbarchan AAC was first home overall in 19:02. He was followed by today’s leading Junior, Joe Butler of West Dunbartonshire AC in 19:50. Well done Joe. Next came another PB performer, Finn Boyd of Glasgow Frontrunners in 19:52.
Details of all those PB performers, First-Timers and a complete event history can be found in this week’s full results (see link in comments on Facebook).
RD Anna had the assistance of a further 15 Volunteers in delivering another hugely successful event. Well done and thank you again Monica McDonnell, Gordon King, Verity-Jayne Walton, Daniel Walton, Paul Lyden, James Hunter, Wilson Hamilton, Emma Crawford, Gerry McElroy, Ann Crawford, Elizabeth Divers, Emily Forrest, Sophie Atkinson, Andy Goodhall and Jim Belk.
Theresa is our RD for next week, inheriting a fairly healthy Volunteer Roster. However, there’s still a marshal slot to be filled so if you’re able to help out we’d love to hear from you. Either drop your name in the comments below or email us at levengrove@parkrun.com
See you all again next week.
