A message from Fr. Ross Campbell regarding St. Peter’s Church in Bellsmyre, Dumbarton
Dear Brothers and Sisters,
I am afraid I write with bad news. Due to some concerns about the building, an emergency independent health and safety inspection took place this morning (17th May). They have instructed the Archdiocese that the church and house need to close with immediate effect. I don’t yet have all the details and I don’t know whether we will have the means to carry out the necessary repairs. I will update you as soon as I have more information.
This is clearly a very sad situation and it is a bit of a shock that things have moved so quickly. Let us entrust our parish to the Lord and to the intercession of St. Peter, the rock upon which the Church’s faith is built.
Please know that myself and Fr. Douglas are still your priests, we are praying for you, and we are here for anything that you need.
