What’s happening on Brain Power day 2024?

A while back, I decided Saturday 10 August would be Brain Power day – to give some focus to my efforts to raise awareness of brain tumours and to raise funds to fight them.

It so happens this will be the first anniversary of the surgery that removed most of my tumour.

In future years, I hope to be up a mountain on this date.

On 10 August 2024:

Brain Power breakfast – my wife Claire and I will be on top of North Berwick Law having breakfast at 9am.

Friends and supporters are welcome to join us to show solidarity with the brain tumour community. Bring your own brekkie. No fundraising required.

Sunflowers – opening weekend of the sunflower trail Balgone Estate, East Lothian. Tickets on sale now. A share of flower sales will be donated to Brain Tumour Research.

1230 Charity patron Theo Burrell and I will be talking about living with this life-limiting condition and about how a new Scottish research centre could help beat it.

We will also be showing a sunflower painting by Glen Scouller which is being auctioned in the Brain Power, Scottish art sale 2-12 August.

There will be a collection the previous week at Fringe by the Sea North Berwick at the Summer Sing with Voices and Sister Sister choir, 1.30pm, Sunday 4 August.

There is another chance to see the Freedom and Form Dance Training Dancing Dudes perform on Wed 7 August, 2.45pm. Their “Yes Sir, I Can Boogie” routine raised almost £5000 earlier in the year.

There’s been baking, biking and boogieing to raise funds for Brain Power, with the team total since Christmas now approaching £45,000. What could you do to help us go even higher?

All cash raised by Brain Power is donated to Brain Tumour Research to help them establish a new research centre of excellence in Scotland.
