SERVICE FAMILIES SUMMER TIME KINGS CAMP 2023 Pictured: Petty Officer Tom Calderbank with his son Noah Children of service personnel based at HM Naval Base Clyde, were invited to experience a wide range of sporting activities during the annual Kings Camp venue, held at Lomond Sports centre in Helensburgh. Kings Camp, which is a charity and is sponsord by the Royal Navy Royal Marines Charity, has been getting children active, engaed in learning, and making new friends for over three decades. THE CHILDREN of Naval Base workers are taking part in this year’s Kings Camp, participating in a huge range of sporting activities during their summer holidays. From July 10- 21, the popular summer activity camps, are operating out of Lomond School Sports Hall with over 80 kids passing through their doors each week. The children aged between 5 and 14 are given the opportunity to try new activities and pass-times which promote an active, healthy lifestyle. Kings Camp have been running school holiday activity events since 1991 and the aim of the Kings Camp coach is to inspire the kids to try something new while learning team ethics and making new friends. Sponsored by Captain of the Base, Captain Elaine Boyd, with grants provided by the Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity (RNRMC) and affiliates of HMNB Clyde, the event benefits the children of Naval, MOD, Lockheed Martin and Babcock staff as well as local children for two weeks of the school holidays. Petty Officer Tom Calderbank who was there with his son Noah said: “I was only meant to drop Noah off here today, however I have been away for two weeks, and Noah has missed me and didn’t want me to leave,” “I am having a great time joining in with the kids and I am really impressed with the King’s Camp coaches who do a wonderful job of keeping the children entertained and interested in the activities on offer.” *** Local Caption *** *Permission for children to be photographed was fully granted by parents*
