Book Week Scotland runs from the 18th to the 24th of November

The WDC Libraries Events Distribution List team would like US to tell you about some upcoming events that may be of interest:

The annual, national festival, Book Week Scotland runs from the 18th to the 24th of November.  They have a great programme of events at West Dunbartonshire Libraries that will run from the 19th to the 22nd of November, and would love for you to join them.

They are delighted to host two creative writing sessions provided by Ann Mackinnon, a local poet. These sessions are a perfect starter course for anyone who would like to try their hand at writing short stories or poetry.  Ann writes in both Scots and English and is widely published in anthologies and magazines.

With a powerful resonance for those who have lived through the decline of heavy industry in Scotland, poet Rab Wilson will be performing from his book, Collier Laddie, which is a very powerful expression of his experiences during the UK Miners’ Strike of 84-85.

This year’s Ian Baillie Memorial event will be delivered by bestselling author Brigid Benson. Join Brigid as she takes us on a magical journey through Scotland’s Outer Isles.

And, not to leave out our younger library members, we have a fantastic creative writing workshop with author Lindsay Littleson based on her novel The Titanic Detective Agency.  This workshop is suitable for children in P4-P7 (age 8-12 years)

All events are free, with adult events being bookable through Eventbrite at: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/o/west-dunbartonshire-council-libraries-and-cultural-services-10641791719

The children’s writing workshop is bookable in branch or by phone: 01389 608992.

They hope that you can join them this Book Week Scotland and help them celebrate all things books and reading.
