Loch Lomond seaplane’s bumpy landing after more than 20 years

Loch Lomond Seaplanes has announced it will cease trading

Aircraft operated by Loch Lomond Seaplanes from a jetty at Cameron House Hotel.

The Loch Lomond airline that offered scenic tours from the skies and flew some famous faces – including Hollywood star Ben Stiller, adventurer Bear Grylls and even Prince Albert of Monaco – has suddenly ceased trading.

The move has left passengers who had booked flights months prior, disappointed as their adventures were cancelled. The plane was a familiar sight flying over Dumbarton, Vale of Leven and the Firth of Clyde and on out to Islands.

The Helensburgh-based firm’s owner, David West, has reportedly said there is a possibility the company could be plunged in to administration, and he is now working alongside advisers to guide him.

Loch Lomond Seaplanes, which also has a base on Loch Lomond near to Cameron House, operated tour and charter flights, announced it had “unexpectedly ceased trading” on its website.

The message reads: “Please be advised that Loch Lomond Seaplanes has ceased trading.

“If you have tickets or a flight booked then someone will be in touch in the near future.”
