SUSPECTED GLENSIDE STABBING VICTIM RUSHED TO HOSPITAL

A teenager has been rushed to hospital after being found seriously injured near a primary school in Glenside, Dumbarton.

Emergency services raced to the Bellsmyre area in the town, close to Aitkenbar & St Peter’s Primary School, after the alarm was raised at around 3.30pm on Wednesday.

Ambulance crews attended and a 13-year-old boy was taken to the Royal Hospital for Children in Glasgow for treatment.

His injuries have been described as serious but not life-threatening.

Unconfirmed reports suggest the child may have been stabbed during the incident.

Officers say the incident is being treated as isolated and there is no threat to the wider public.

An investigation is ongoing to establish the full circumstances.

Police will remain in the area while enquiries continue and officers are appealing for information.

Inspector Annette McVicar said: “Around 3.30pm on Wednesday, 11 June, we received a report of a person found injured in the Muir Road area of Dumbarton.

“Emergency services attended and a 13-year-old boy was taken to the Royal Hospital for Children in Glasgow with serious but not life-threatening injuries.

“The incident is being treated as isolated and there is no threat to the wider public.

“An investigation is ongoing to establish the full circumstances and officers will remain in the area while enquiries continue.

“Anyone with information that could assist is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 2259 of Wednesday, June 11, 2025.”
