The Royal Navy’s oldest Type 23 Frigate, HMS Argyll which has always held close links with the area, was decommissioned in September and the ship’s bell has been presented to the Duke of Argyll for safe keeping. Provost Dougie Philand was there for the ceremony alongside Commander Charles Wheen, Lord Lt. Jane Macleod and the Duke of Argyll. The bell will go on display to the public, at Inveraray Castle, in spring next year.
