KEEP WARM ADVICE: Check in with neighbours and loved ones during cold temperatures

As winter temperatures plummet, NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) Public Health is urging people to check in on older and frail neighbours and their loved ones.

Temperatures in GGC have been dropping into the minus figures recently, and conditions are set to remain cold this week.

Dr Emilia Crighton, pictured right, Director of Public Health at NHSGGC, said: “Tough winter conditions can make it difficult for older and frailer people to leave their homes for essential items.

“Winter viruses also tend to increase in colder weather, leaving people vulnerable. We ask everyone to take a minute to check in with those around them to see if they need support.

“This could be as simple as picking up some essentials from the local shops, helping them to an appointment, gritting the path outside their home, or joining them for a cup of tea if they are feeling isolated. Small acts of kindness can make a big difference.”
