Scotland’s Health Secretary has been urged to “come clean” over what he knows about the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital scandal – after dodging crucial questions on the issue.
On Tuesday, Mr Gray was asked about claims that a grieving family were offered a bribe of £20,000 and a holiday after their baby died at the £1 billion super-hospital in 2017.
However, Mr Gray refused to answer and also ignored questions about whether former Chief Nursing Officer Fiona McQueen should appear before Parliament.
Scottish Labour leader Anas Sarwar said: “Families deserve truth and justice. They have been put through indescribable pain with the loss of loved ones at the QEUH.
“For seven years, they have been faced with cover-up, denial, and attempts to shift the blame, with no-one held accountable.
“This SNP government is utterly failing families by choosing to close ranks and hide behind process, rather than giving them straight answers.
“Neil Gray has chosen to shamefully dodge questions on this scandal. However, there is still time for him to do the right thing.
“He must come clean and tell Parliament what he knows about the problems at the hospital and who is to blame.
“The SNP has for years disgracefully shirked responsibility and covered up this scandal by refusing to tell the public who applied political pressure for the hospital to open and when.
“I would urge them to finally show some courage and give families the truth they have long called for, and that they so deserve.”
