Iran-US war latest: Iranian ballistic missile shot down in Nato airspace

Israel accused of using white phosphorous

Air defences in the eastern Mediterranean were activated after a missile fired from Iran entered Turkey’s airspace, as the ministry said it would take all necessary steps to protect itself without hesitation.

It comes after Iran denied firing a missile towards Turkey last week.

Meanwhile, Israel has been accused of using white phosphorous over civilian homes in Lebanon, Human Rights Watch has warned.

It comes as Iran has elected Mojtaba Khamenei, left, as its new leader, more than a week after his father was killed in an airstrike.

The 56-year-old was chosen to become the next supreme leader on Sunday evening, despite Donald Trump’s insistence that he should have a say in the appointment.

Israeli strikes on southern Lebanon continued with at least 400 people reportedly killed and over a thousand injured.
