Scottish Water bosses have been awarded £258,000 in bonuses at a time of consumer price rises and sewage scandals.
While ex-soldier Tam Towie, right, and Friends of Dumbarton Foreshore and the River Leven toil endlessly to keep our rivers, burns and lochs free from sewage, Alex Plant, the chief executive at publicly-owned Scottish Water, was given another £115,000 on top of his £315,000 salary.
The Chief Executive’s full remuneration package came to £432,000 this year.
“No doubt ministers will again defend these indefensible payments, but the sums involved remain obscene.”
Other Scottish Water executives were also rewarded with performance bonuses.
