However, Cllr Jonathan McColl doesn’t require any help in that quarter since he has already sponsored his SNP colleague, Martin [the Meerkat] Docherty Hughes, and won’t be standing. And Joyce White doesn’t need assistance in that direction either since she is a law unto herself, a self-appointed maker of rules and regulations which require no formal endorsement from people who have had to go through the tedious process of an election. It’s called democracy, but we don’t do democracy in Dumbarton. Not under Ms White and Cllr McColl’s SNP we don’t.

Like a remarkably high number of people, Andrew considers West Dunbartonshire Council to be a basket case. His views about the Health Board not being fit for purpose appear to have been borne out this week when the Health Secretary, Jeanne Freeman, put that organisation into special measures, which means top officials are being sent in to run it properly. This could happen soon to the Council, which is forever at the centre of controversy, covering up scandals and cutting off communications with journalists anxious to find out what they are up to.

STURGEON AND POPE FRANCIS SING FROM SAME HYMNSHEET ON NUCLEAR WEAPONS

Pope Francis and Nicola Sturgeon found themselves singing from the same hymn sheet on nuclear weapons this Sunday morning. The Pope wants the Faslane-based nuclear submarine fleet scrapped, and the First Minister has told Sky News she is in complete agreement with the Pontiff about ridding Scotland of the Trident nuclear weapon system.
She stated that it is “an absolute red line” for the SNP in any negotiations after the General Election.
The SNP leader confidently laid out her four red line demands to Jeremy Corbyn this morning – insisting he has to give Scotland massive concessions if he wants the keys to No 10.
Ms Sturgeon also listed a second independence referendum, an end to Brexit, and wholesale devolution of powers on drugs, migration and employment.
