Cameron House Hotel fatal fire inquiry is still ongoing
Flames rip through Cameron House Hotel on Loch Lomondside.
The mother of one of the Cameron House Hotel fire victims has still had not had the full information about the circumstances of her son’s death.
Jane Midgley has been waiting three months to find out what happened to her son Simon, 32, and his partner Richard Dyson, 38 (pictured right). Both died when flames spread through the luxury hotel, on the shores of Loch Lomond, on December 18. Mrs Midgley, from Worksop, Nottinghamshire, told the Daily Record: “I want to know why my boy isn’t coming back home to me. “I want to know why they couldn’t get out of that building and I want the whole world to know. Simon and Richard were both beautiful boys, the nicest you could ever meet. Answers aren’t going to bring them home but we need to know the full facts of what happened.”
Police Scotland say that investigators are unable to access the unsafe building 13 weeks after the blaze happened.
Jane has called for a with the police as she bids to find out what happened to her beloved son, who lived in London. She added: “It’s very upsetting and distressing not having any answers. My heart is absolutely broken. I still can’t believe it happened. I have never known pain or heartache like this and every single day is a struggle. I have hundreds of questions I want answering. Every time I speak to someone I’m told that there is no more information.”
She did say however that the police family liaison team had been wonderful and praised the people of Scotland for their sympathy. Fire incident commander David McGown said the investigation is “complex” and requires the team to continue with their inquiries to establish the full facts.
