Official opening of Balloch Campus
Politicians, teachers, officials and guests at the Balloch opening.
Pupils and teachers at Balloch Campus joined councillors and family members to celebrate the official opening of the new £16 million building.
The campus, on the site of the former St Kessog’s Primary, accommodates St Kessog’s and the new Balloch Primary, which was created following a merger of Haldane and Jamestown Primaries.
The site is also home to Balloch Early Learning and Childcare Centre and an Additional Support Needs Base.
As part of the opening ceremony guests were entertained with songs performed by senior pupils from both schools and children from the nursery.
Education convener, Councillor Karen Conaghan, said: “I am delighted with the standard of this outstanding campus which has improved the educational opportunities for more than 500 children. It is great to see pupils enjoying the modern technology and multi-use classrooms which are are fully furnished with modern state-of-the-art equipment to promote and encourage our children to take a role in their learning.
Vice Convener, Councillor Caroline McAllister, added: “Balloch Campus is a wonderful building and we are very proud that our children will benefit greatly from this investment to our schools estate. As a council we are committed to improving the lives of our children and provide them with a school which will fully support their learning, attainment and achievement and Balloch Campus meets our expectation as a modern, safe and welcoming school.”
Laura Mason, Chief Education Officer said: “The new Balloch Campus is the latest school to open and I am so pleased with the positive feedback from parents and carers. This Campus represents our vision that every child should be taught in environments that are modern and purpose built to fully support the Curriculum for Excellence and ensure every child attains and achieves through the excellent facilities at Balloch.”
Following the opening ceremony, guests were invited to tour the campus, giving them a glimpse of the impressive educational facilities enjoyed by the young people.
