All gowned up and somewhere to go
It’s graduation time. And local families are featuring large at these academic events across the country from Glasgow to Edinburgh to Troon in Ayrshire.
The families of friends in journalism have been covering themselves in glory, much to the delight of their relatives.
Kirsty Pym, daughter of Hugh Pym, Health Editor of the BBC, and his wife, Dumbarton-born Susan Neil, a distinguished Academy FP, graduated from the University of Edinburgh.
Her grandmother, Joan Neil, of Overwood Grove, Dumbarton, was on hand to give Kirsty one of the biggest hugs of the day.
International sports journalist Jim McGhee and Mi-won McGhee were at the University of Glasgow, where daughter Jenny graduated with a First Class degree. Jenny’s brother, Edward, was also there.
And down at the Concert Hall in Troon, Paul Reilly, son of Tom and Hazel, formerly of the Lennox Herald, graduated from the University of the West of Scotland with a BA Hons in Broadcast Production: TV and Radio.
Why not send your family’s graduation pictures to The Democrat with a few details of their achievements?
