What’s On

Programme for the Tower Helensburgh digital arts centre

We have a great line up of shows happening at The Tower Digital Arts Centre and a surprise at The Submarine Centre.

With the fantastic weather we’ve had and all the action from Moscow, some of the big summer films were delayed a few weeks by the studios. Today see’s the Disney/Pixar release of the much anticipated INCREDIBLES 2, or ‘the riotous return of Pixars’s superhero immortals’ to quote The Guardian. Holly Hunter is the star and the show has lots of messages for all of us in it. This will be on everyday for at lease the next 4 weeks.

It’s been 50 years since The Beatles penned YELLOW SUBMARINE and we’ve managed to secure agreement to show the film under th Submarine next-door. The film with it’s great music and animations, nothing even comes close. These special screens from under the submarine are great fun and will run on fridays and sundays for a couple of months. Tickets for this event must be booked in advance.

Oscar Wilde visited and spake in Helensburgh in The King Street Hall (now The Submarine Centre) in 1888, so THE HAPPY PRINCE which has got great reveiws for the performances of Rupert Everett and Colin Firm seems like an obvious choice for this week.

On the live front for the centenary celebrations for the RAF we will be screening SPITFIRE next Tuesday night. This brilliant documentary narrated by Charles Dance, includes first hand accounts from surviving combat veterans.

If your a romantic or you like Shakespeare we have ROMEO & JULIET streaming Live from Stafford-upon-Avon performed live from The RSC on Thursday. This only on once.

ADRIFT is on for another week, This romantic drama follows the truestory of their epic survival in a calamitous hurricanne while sailing the Pacific. HSC & RNCSC members contemplating their world the world sailing expeditions should check this one out.  is being screened for parent & babys (Tuesday at 11am) and Silverscreens (Wednesday at 1pm). Deadpool 2 continues to surprise and delight audiences and our family film is PATRICK is a hit with the under 10’s.
