Bank staff cultivate friends at hospital

By Lucy Ashton

Grateful residents and staff at Dumbarton Joint Hospital’s Glenarn Ward gathered to thank Bank of Scotland staff for enhancing the ward garden. As part of Mental Health Week activities, kind-hearted staff at the Alexandria branch of the bank raised £471 by holding a tombola, with prizes donated from local businesses in the town, with a further £144 raised by a member of staff who ran the 10k with all proceeds going to Glenaran Ward. Joint bank-of-scotland-cheque-presentationThe funds  will be used to further improve the outdoor space at the ward, creating a new relaxing outdoor space where residents can catch up with family and friends away from their hospital beds. Councillor Marie McNair, Chair of West Dunbartonshire Health and Social Care Partnership, said: “The ward has lovely gardens and this money will be invested to further improve the area for our residents to enjoy.  Work Connect volunteers who look after the garden have done a great job installing comfortable  seating areas and beautiful flowers which are appreciated by everyone who uses the garden. On behalf of the staff and residents I would like to thank the bank staff and all of the businesses for their generous donations.”
