It’s a dog’s life. Maggie, the wee yellow terrier owned by Dumbuck House Hotel owner and super fund-raiser, Petra McMillan, is done in.

And why wouldn’t she be after taking part in a 25-mile Kilt Walk to raise funds for the Marie Curie Nurses?

Petra said later: “Well done to everyone who took part in the Kilt Walk.

“Over 2,300 people walked up to 25 miles to raise small fortunes for charities close to their own hearts. Heroes, every one of them.

“Special credit to our Marie Curie Marchers, including our nurses Donna and Fran and everyone who sponsored us.

“I’ve run two marathons and walked the 25-mile Kilt Walk twice and walking is most definitely tougher. Go figure

“And what about our Maggie? She was an absolute trooper and lapped up every step, earning herself a medal too.” ️

Petra, who is training for a fund-raising climb on Mount Everest later this year, is an ambassador for Marie Curie.

Injured in a fall while out walking Maggie on the beach near her Tayside home, she is currently in training for a marathon cycle run in Laos in November.

“I haven’t been on a bike for 18 months so this might be tricky,” she told me.
