Old school bites the dust ….
And the walls came tumblin’ down …
This was the scene at the former Our Lady and St Patrick’s High School in Cardross Road, Dumbarton, today. The demolishers are making good progress in bringing down the building. Some people believe the school was taken out of use long before it was necessary to do so. And to move its replacement to Bellsmyre at a cost of £30 million and millions more per annum agreed by then Labour-controlled West Dunbartonshire Council under a PPP scheme which many people, including Labour Shadow Chancellor John McDonald, who told the Labour Party Conference last week that these agreements were “a rip off” and should be, would be banned, if Labour came into power again.
