A Christmas stocking drawn by a Clydebank youngster has been chosen as the winning entry in the Provost’s Christmas Card Competition this year.
The design drawn by Katie McKenzie, who is in Primary 6 at Our Holy Redeemer Primary School, was picked out by Provost William Hendrie.
It will now feature on his official Christmas card, and be sent out to more than 300 individuals and organisations across West Dunbartonshire and beyond.
Every year the Provost selects one school from West Dunbartonshire to take part in the Christmas Card competition and this year it was the turn of Our Holy Redeemer.
Isla Cassidy’s design came in second place, while Charlie Irvine came third.
All three of their names will be displayed on the winning Christmas card in recognition of their efforts.
As winner, Katie will receive a framed copy of her design, a gift voucher for £25 and an engraved snowman Christmas tree decoration.
The two runners up will receive a £20 gift voucher and an engraved snowman Christmas tree decoration.
The three finalists met with Provost Hendrie this week, where he was able to congratulate them in person.
He said: “I’m always so impressed by the quality of the designs that are entered into this competition – it makes it so hard to pick a winner.
“This year was no exception. I chose Katie’s design as the overall winner as it stood out – it is bright, cheerful and has so many of my favourite aspects of Christmastime.
“Congratulations to the three pupils and the school teachers at Our Holy Redeemer for nurturing such creative young minds.”
