Due to me attending my routine mammogram , I was diagnosed with an early breast cancer on Nov 9th 2018 . I had a lumpectomy done on December 19, 2018 . I had a further operation to clear the margins of pre cancerous cells two weeks ago and today I was advised that all cancer and pre cancerous cells have been successfully removed . I will require radiotherapy and I meet with Oncology on Monday . But had I not attended my routine mammogram , then I would have been facing an uncertain future . You see my cancer could not be felt by touch and that’s why it’s important to attend mammogram screenings and not bury your head in the sand and believe that it can’t happen to you. It actually CAN happen to you. Just because you can’t feel a lump doesn’t mean it’s not there . So please please attend your routine mammograms .
