Very cold tonight with widespread frost and icy patches. Wintry showers mostly easing. Thursday will see another frosty start with some freezing fog. Largely dry in the north and east with some sunshine but rain and snow will push into the West coast later, with snow accumulations likely. Be prepared for ice and snow as you go to work or school.
Outlook for Friday to Sunday
Thursday overnight saw the temperature plunge to -14C, giving us the coldest night this winter. Sleet and snow in the south will mostly ease on Friday but may continue across some southern counties. Wintry showers in the north-east but brighter in the north-west. Scattered wintry showers in the north-east on Saturday but brighter in the west. On Sunday many places will be dry with sunny spells but a few showers possible in the east.
