March takes place on Thursday, March 14, from 7pm
Friday, March 8 – tomorrow – is International Women’s Day. West Dunbartonshire has the highest rate of Domestic Abuse in Scotland. Recently, there has been an increase in the number of women being harassed and frightened while out walking. Please come along to this show of solidarity and defiance on Thursday, March 14, and make your voice heard about how we can tackle this situation. After a short march from the Vale of Leven Academy the John Connolly Centre in Main Street, Renton, Clydebank Women’s Aid will show a film, and there will be time for discussion and ideas to be shared. There is space within the John Connolly Centre for women to learn some self-defence exercises and the Aikido group have offered a day’s training if women feel this would help build up their confidence. This is not a woman only event and all people who want to be part of the solution and not part of the problem are welcome. If you can’t make this but agree with it in principle, can you please share this far and wide? We would love a good turnout. Louise Robertson
