News of the death of Stevie Chalmers, the Celtic striker who scored the winning goal in the 1967 European Cup Final in Lisbon, was reported on the UK national news on BBC last night. The goal against Inter Milan was the most important in Celtic’s long and colourful history. This was how today’s Herald reported Stevie’s death on its front page and inside the newspaper. Fitting tribute to a great player and a modest fellow who was never drawn to believe his own publicity. Bill Heaney
