Thousands of young people across Dumbarton Constituency will receive their exam results this week and local MSP Jackie Baillie has welcomed the dedicated Exam Results Helpline set up by Skills Development Scotland to help students who need advice.

The dedicated exam results support line will open at 8am on Tuesday 6 August and will be available to students until Wednesday 14 August. Careers advisers are available to all students, and Skills Development Scotland are encouraging students who don’t get the results they expected not to panic and to contact their team.

Help and advice is also available face-to-face at all state secondary schools in Scotland, and on social media via Facebook and Twitter.

Jackie Baillie said: “I know that the day exam results drop through the door can be a daunting time for young people and their families who are waiting to find out what their future holds. Whatever the results, it is important to remember that there are always lots of options even if you don’t get what you are expecting.

“Skills Development Scotland’s Exams Helpline will have dedicated careers advisers ready to speak to pupils across the country about their next steps. They will have access to information on UCAS course vacancies, Confirmation and Clearing, advice about Modern, Foundation and Graduate Apprenticeships and jobs or volunteering.”
