The SNP’s commitment to removing Trident from Scotland will be on the agenda at a conference in Helensburgh next month.
West Dunbartonshire MP Martin Docherty will be one of the speakers at Helensburgh CND’s conference on Saturday September 7.
‘Local perspectives’ on the Royal Navy bases at Faslane and Coulport will be given by Inverclyde SNP Cllr Christopher McEleny, Garelochhead resident Alannah Maurer, the Rev Mitchell Bunting of Scottish Christians Against Nuclear Arms, Faslane Peace Camp and film-maker David Newbigging.
There will also be a tribute to the lifelong anti-nuclear activists Dot and Eric Wallace by Eric’s sister Susan – Dot and Eric left Helensburgh CND a substantial legacy.
Alex Lockwood will discuss his recent book The Chernobyl Privileges and the Scotland: A Peace of History exhibition will run concurrently with our conference.
The event will be in Helensburgh Parish Church from 11am to 5.30pm; tickets are £11.37 with concessions £8.14, which includes a soup and sandwich lunch.
