Jackie Baillie said: “I had a very productive meeting with the Cabinet Secretary for the Rural Economy and Tourism and welcome the Scottish Government’s willingness to understand that businesses in the tourism industry need robust support long after this crisis is over.
“Instead of maximising their profit at the expense of these workers, the firms that run our PFI hospitals should be playing their part in the growing solidarity by waiving the outrageous charges they place on our NHS.
“In order for the public to fully understand the scale of the problem that we face, we must be presented with the full picture.
“I would remind everyone that if you do have to leave your house for any of the essential reasons – food, medicine, care, exercise or work, and you absolutely cannot do them at home – then please stay two metres away from people you don’t live with, and keep human contact as limited as possible.”
