Erskine is very pleased to announce that we have received an incredible grant of £250,000 from The Armed Forces Covenant Fund Trust. This grant was awarded following our application to the Trust’s COVID-19 Impact Programme and will help fund the enhanced care services provided by Erskine’s Homes over the next four months.
In addition, a portion of the grant will fund the purchase of additional PPE and hygiene equipment for our Homes.
Erskine’s four Homes continue to offer high-quality, dedicated care with 339 beds available for elderly Veterans and spouses, most of whom live with physical disabilities and neurological conditions such as dementia and Parkinson’s disease. Our charity’s delivery of care is much more challenging but even more important during the COVID-19 pandemic. We are proud of our homely environment and our provision of enhanced nursing, dementia and palliative care to Veterans who have sacrificed so much.
Our residents enjoy a high quality of life through access to on-site clinical expertise like our Dementia Nurse Consultants and Advanced Nurse Practitioner, enhanced support services such as physiotherapy and speech and language therapy, increased staff-to-resident ratios, and opportunities to stay physically and mentally active. Erskine would simply not be in a position to provide this level of care without loyal supporters like The Armed Forces Covenant Fund Trust.
Erskine’s Chief Executive, Ian Cumming: “We are hugely grateful to The Armed Forces Covenant Fund Trust for this very significant grant and for their long-term commitment to helping Scotland’s elderly Veterans. Erskine is both privileged and proud to deliver sector-leading care to Veterans in need. Our work has been extremely difficult and demanding during the COVID-19 pandemic but, as always, the safety and wellbeing of our vulnerable residents has been our utmost priority.
“Our incredible staff will continue to work extremely hard over the coming months to keep our Veteran Family safe. At this challenging time when our fundraising activity has been impacted by the lockdown restrictions, we are pleased to have the continued support of The Armed Forces Covenant Fund Trust.”
Erskine would like to sincerely thank The Armed Forces Covenant Fund Trust for generously supporting our vital work during this challenging period. The Trust supports the Armed Forces Covenant by delivering funding programmes that create real change to Armed Forces communities across the UK.
