
Stoneymullan roundabout on the A82 – Liam Scott died in accident near Duck Bay cut-off.
#A petition has been launched by the mother of a road traffic victim to introduce new safety measures on the A82 Dumbarton-Loch Lomondside road near Duck Bay. Liam Scott died after the motorbike on which he was a passenger was involved in collision with a car. Liam was rushed by ambulance to the QE2 University Hospital in Glasgow but tragically died there. Vale of Leven man Malcolm White, 65, who had to have his leg amputated after a freak accident in his Redburn, Bonhill, home when he slipped on a sandwich is “begging” West Dunbartonshire Council to carry out adaptations in the property principally because of his inability to negotiate the stairs at the front and back of his house. Mr White claims he is trapped in the house, and that this is affecting his mental health.

Investigations into West Dunbartonshire Council staff using drugs while at work and a second complaint of a WDC employee posting about holidays on social media while being off sick took pace after anonymous tip offs to the authority. There were eight such disclosures “in the public interest” but none of them stood up to scrutiny. One person reported for smoking had the complaint against him/her “actioned” by the audit committee. Someone was also reported for stealing in money from a school and another interviewed about materials went missing. A council vehicle was also reported to have been misused.

Argyll and Bute Council leader Aileen Morton, pictured right, who represents Helensburgh Central for the LibDems, is resigning from the position, but will still syand for election to the council next May – “It’s time now for someone else to take the council forward. A funeral reception for Mark Deery, 39, is being linked to an outbreak of Covid-19 on the Rosneath Peninsula. The wake took place on September 7 in Cove and Kilcreggan Bowling Club. Amongst the 13 people who contracted coronavirus are the deceased’s relatives, Gerry and Rose Deery. Meanwhile, Knockderry Country House Hotel has announced that it will be closed until September 24 “to protect staff and visitors” while Cove Burgh Hall intends to remain closed for the present.
