COMMUNITY: MORRISONS OPENS NEW STORE IN HELENSBURGH

Morrisons is opening a new supermarket today in Helensburgh on the site of the former Waitrose store.  The opening will see the creation of over 240 new jobs in full and part-time roles taking the total store headcount to 251.

The 18,500 sq ft store will feature Morrisons famous Market Street counters as well as a host of services to help customers shop for groceries both in store and from home.

Bakers will bake bread, butchers will cut meat just the way customers want it and fishmongers can give tips on how to prepare and cook seafood.  Other key features of the new store include:

  • Nutmeg baby & kids clothing
  • A Home range of cookware and soft furnishings
  • A wide selection of Free From products
  • A Café serving a wide selection of food and drinks throughout the day

The new store will also stock a wide range of local products including Equi’s Ice Cream, whisky from Auchentoshan Distillery, confectionery from Buchanan’s and ales from Fyne Ales.

As well as shopping in the store, customers can choose to have groceries delivered to their door or ‘Click & Collect’ at the store by visiting Morrisons.com.

In addition, elderly or vulnerable customers, or anyone who is self-isolating, can order groceries over the phone and pay when they’re delivered the next day, by Morrisons.   Anyone wishing to use the service should call 0345 611 6111 and select option 5.

The new Morrisons petrol station opened earlier in the week with the following prices:

  • Unleaded 107.9p
  • Diesel 111.9p
  • SuperFuel 114.9p

The store has appointed Alison Sturgeon and Claire Wright as its Community Champions and their  role will be to connect with local community groups and charities.

Alison and Claire have already been out and about helping the local community while the store has been refurbished and have raised over £900 to date for local good causes.

The store is also supporting the RBS toy appeal to donate toys to local children this Christmas.  Anyone wishing to contact Alison or Claire should email: champion.helensburgh@morrisonsplc.co.uk.

Helensburgh Store Manager, Scot Byers, said: “We know the residents of Helensburgh have been eagerly anticipating the opening of this store and we’re pleased it has come at a time when the local community needs us more than ever.  Today, they get a brand new Morrisons store with skilled foodmaking at the heart of it and plenty of useful services.”
