COVID 19: Community COVID Vaccine Centres Confirmed

By Lucy Ashton

Three West Dunbartonshire venues have been confirmed as sites for the mass rollout of the COVID-19 vaccination.

Dumbarton’s Concord Centre, Alexandria Community Centre and The Hub in Clydebank have been designated community vaccination centres by NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde.

Following the success of the initial vaccination programme for staff at NHS Louisa Jordan Hospital, and eight hospital sites across the Greater Glasgow area, these centres will support the next phases of the vaccination programme.

These sites are already successfully staging the ongoing programme involving local GPs to vaccinate people over 80 years old, Now they will be at the heart of the effort to protect the rest of the community as the mass roll-out begins.

Council Leader Jonathan McColl, pictured left,  said: “This is another milestone moment that raises hope for the day when it is safe for our community to gather again –  living, working and socialising together, as we did before.

“In West Dunbartonshire the response from our front line Health and Social Care staff has been tremendous, successfully rolling out delivery of the vaccine to care home residents and members of the community aged 80 years and over.

“The Concord Centre in Dumbarton, Alexandria Community Centre and The Hub in Clydebank have already proved to be ideal bases when local GP practices began administering vaccinations to elderly patients last week.

“Therefore, it is logical that these venues are utilised again for the next stage of the process as we strive to reach the wider community with  the commencement of the mass roll-out.

“To the people of West Dunbartonshire I would say that we appreciate your eagerness to be vaccinated and be assured that we will reach you as soon as we can.

“ In the meantime, please be patient while we work through this enormous task and please continue to observe all of the social distancing and hygiene  measures set out in the Scottish Government’s FACTS guidance.

“With your continued support and understanding we can help to stop the spread of the virus and keep our community safe.”

  1. Excellent that great man and supreme leader Jon Ha Thon issues wise words to keep us all safe.

In times of crisis and adversity His interventions, sagacious and timely, are appreciated. Pity he wasn’t able to intervene earlier on in the care homes.
