Three new members have been appointed to the NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde Board by Cabinet Secretary for Health and Sport, Jeane Freeman MSP.

Following a rigorous recruitment process, Mrs Michelle Wailes, Dr Paul Ryan and Professor Iain McInnes will join our Board in the coming months. Each of the new members have been appointed on the basis of their experience working in senior level positions in the public and private sectors.

Professor McInnes will become NHSGGC’s new stakeholder member from the University of Glasgow, replacing Professor Dame Anna Dominiczak DBE who is stepping down from this post. Professor Dominiczak, Regius Professor of Medicine at the University of Glasgow, is currently on secondment to the UK Government Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) as Director of Laboratories, NHS Test and Trace.

Professor McInnes will join us from 1 April 2021 and Mrs Wailes and Dr Ryan will commence their positions from 1 June 2021.

Health Board chair John Brown and Jeane Freeman, the government health secretary.

Commenting on the appointments, Chairman of NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde, Professor John Brown CBE said; “On behalf of the Board, I would like to welcome each of our new Board Members to their new positions with NHSGGC. Each of them brings with them a wealth of experience across several fields, including healthcare, financial services and academia.

“It is vitally important that as a Health Board we continue to challenge ourselves and seek the involvement of individuals who can support us to grow, develop and continue to provide world class, quality patient care and a strong commitment to innovation and quality improvement right across our services.

“I would also like to extend the Board’s heartfelt thanks to Professor Dame Anna Dominiczak DBE, who is stepping down from this position.
