Franco Polombo and his wife, Moya, are retiring after 25 years running the best fish and chip shop and restaurant in Balloch.

Palombo’s of Alexandria and Balloch is to close, Franco and Moya announced just tonight on social media.
The couple, who have served the best fish and chips in West Dunbartonshire for quarter of a century, posted this message on Facebook: “It’s the end of an era for us, our staff and many of our customers.”
They added: “Franco and Moya Palombo decided to close the doors at Palombo’s of Balloch after 25 years of business.
We want to say a really enormous thank you to our staff and customers who have been with us over the last couple of decades in Balloch (and even longer in Alexandria before that).
“The Palombo’s have been serving fish and chips almost every day of the year since Ernie Palombo opened in Alexandria 55 years ago, in 1966.
“Most of our lives have been spent chatting to locals and visitors from all over the world and we are going to miss everyone a lot. “
Franco Palombo is centre stage in the photographs here, but of course his wife Moya Palombo has been there every day also and they both wish everyone well.
Their farewell message to punters in West Dunbartonshire, the Bonnie Banks and the world over is: “Keep safe, and keep eating fish and chips!”
