NUJ TRAINING: The Compendium is a new online resource offering course participants 12 bitesize skills sessions

We are pleased to be able to offer limited funded places to NUJ members on our new Media Skills Compendium training sessions.  The Compendium is a new online resource offering course participants 12 bitesize skills sessions on both professional and personal subject areas. Sessions are presented by our experienced tutors and can be undertaken at a time and a place to suit.  This has been funded by Scottish Union Learning Covid Recovery Fund.

Over 12 bite-size sessions, learners will cover discrete skills which are useful in their own right but are also part of a wider training programme offered by the NUJ. The compendium will therefore act as both complete training sessions, but also as a set of taster sessions for more in-depth courses run by the NUJ.

Participants can “dip in” to individual subject areas that they might not normally consider, or benefit from all twelve courses in their entirety, giving them a broad spectrum of tools that can be used in their everyday roles.  These will include legal issues such as copyright; digital skills that include news writing, social media and ‘trolling’; wordpress and podcasting tips; as well as traditional writing and editing skills, including feature writing, PR and Scriptwriting.   Places are limited and will be allocated on a first come basis.  If you wish to sign up, please let me know.
