STOP PRESS: Police trace Peter McVey, missing from Dumbarton

Police officers in Dumbarton are appealing for the assistance of the public to trace a man missing from the area.

Peter McVey (31), pictured right, was last seen in the Castlehill area of Dumbarton around 4am on Saturday, 10 April, 2021.

Police Scotland can confirm that Peter McVey who was reported missing from Dumbarton has been traced safe and well.  Officers would like to thank everyone who shared our previous appeal.


He was last seen wearing a navy blue t-shirt, black zipper top, back jogging bottoms and black trainers.

Inspector Fiona Davidson, of Argyll and West Dunbartonshire Division, said: “Enquires are ongoing but we are now seeking the assistance of the public to help us locate Peter.

“Peter’s family are growing increasingly concerned for his well-being. I would ask anyone with information, or who knows of Peter’s whereabouts, to contact police.

“I would also like to appeal to Peter directly to attend at a local police station or to contact one of her friends or family so that we can ensure she is safe and well.

“Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland via 101, quoting incident number 0980 of 10 April.”
