BALLOCH FROM THE AIR IN 1970

Aerial shot of Balloch in 1970. Some interesting things to notice here. The top right is the River Leven West Bank site, which Flamingo Land has envious eyes on for development. At that time it was a railway yard, BSD factory, sandpit and caravan site.

There’s an open field where Craiglomond was built and the same beside the bus stance where th Coop supermarket now stands.

There’s no Dalvait Estate although the old MOD site looks as though it has been cleared ready for construction. The Lennoxbank Hotel is still there along with the Lido or was it the Waterlot by then?
