In 2019, Scotland declared a Climate Emergency and set a new national target of net-zero emissions by 2045 or sooner.   In addition, the UK will host the UN Climate Change Conference (COP26), in Glasgow in November 2021, which will bring together global leaders to progress action on climate change. Significant action across all sectors will be required in order to bring about significant changes to combat the ecological and climate crises we face. The transition to a cleaner, greener society presents significant challenges and opportunities for organisations.

In light of the Climate Change Conference, NUJ Training Scotland have contracted Keep Scotland Beautiful (KSB) to deliver accredited online Climate Emergency training for NUJ members.  The course will be delivered online, using a mix of delivery methods: live webinars / group workshops, and self-study. The course will take place over four weeks and each module will involve a live session (60 minutes) and self-study material between these sessions (approx. 60 minutes self-study per week).  The course is split into 4 modules:

Module 1: What is climate change?

Module 2: Impacts and Adaptation

Module 3: Reducing Emissions (Mitigation)

Module 4: Climate Action and Communication

The first session runs from 10am-11am on 23 July with sessions weekly for 4 weeks.  Places are limited for this accredited course and anyone wishing to book should contact me as soon as possible.
