The successor to Leslie Evans as the Scottish Government’s top civil servant has been named.
It has been announced that John Paul Marks will take up the role of permanent secretary on January 5 next year.
He will leave his position as director general of work and health services at the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) to take on the job.
Evans, pictured right, who has hardly covered herself in glory in the job and will be rewarded with with a a huge “golden parachute” severance deal, will depart the position having served as permanent secretary at St Andrew’s House for almost seven years.
“I am grateful to Leslie Evans for her leadership of the civil service for almost the past seven years,” said the First Minister.
